A = width, B = height, C = depth, in inches, from the Micron ImperviTRAN catalog CCT-16A dimensional tables. Terminal cover kit TPTC-2002 fits 6-terminal designs, TPTC-2001 fits 4-terminal designs. Terminal torque is 20 lb-in up to 30 A and 30 lb-in above 30 A. Two-letter suffix is 105 C, three letters ending in F is 130 C, ending in H is 180 C. Add an R in the suffix (or -8 on serialized numbers) for a factory installed Class CC primary fuse block.

Do not see your primary and secondary combination? Micron builds more 1.0 kVA voltage groups than are listed here. Send the voltages and we will pull the catalog number.

Which part number to pick

  • B1K0BTZ13JKF when the panel is fed from 230 or 460 V three-phase and you want 115 V control. The BTZ primary is triple rated, so the same part covers 220, 230 and 240 V (or 440, 460 and 480 V) within 5 percent.
  • B1K0MBT13XKF when the feed can be 208, 230 or 460 V and the panel ships to different sites.
  • B1K0-2010-1F when you need both 24 V and 115 V control from one transformer.
  • B1K0-0500-3F for a 240x480 V primary and a 120x240 V secondary. Wire the secondary series for 240 V or parallel for 120 V.
  • B1K0BTWZ37XKH for 575 V Canadian feeds. Secondary taps at 95 and 115 V.
  • B1K0-0321-3F for 240, 347 or 380 V primaries with a 120x240 V secondary.
  • B1K0-2188-GAH when the panel needs the CE mark. GlobalTRAN units are built to EN 61558-2-2 and carry a 24 V and a 115 V secondary.
  • B1K0-2248-GAH when the panel needs the CE mark and may see a 230, 400, 460 or 575 V feed. GlobalTRAN, EN 61558-2-2, 24 V and 115 V secondary.

Sizing a 1.0 kVA control transformer

Control transformers are sized twice. First for steady load, then for inrush.

  1. Add the sealed VA of every coil, relay, timer and pilot light on the secondary. That is the continuous load.
  2. Find the largest contactor or starter on the panel and take its inrush VA.
  3. Add that inrush to the sealed VA of everything already pulled in. The transformer has to hold secondary voltage up during that moment or the coil will not pick up.

1.0 kVA gives you 1000 VA continuous. Long secondary runs and low line voltage both eat into what is left, so check the inrush number before you settle on a size.

Why Micron

  • Epoxy encapsulated windings, built for moisture, coolant mist and plant dust.
  • UL and cUL Listed, file E46323.
  • 20 year manufacturer warranty.
  • Made in the USA.

ImperviTRAN and GlobalTRAN

ImperviTRAN is the North American industrial control transformer. GlobalTRAN carries the international primary voltages, 400V and 575V among them, for machines shipping overseas. Both are epoxy encapsulated.

Cross reference from Acme, Hammond, Sola and others

We cross 1.0 kVA control transformers from Acme, Hammond Power Solutions, Sola, Jefferson, Eaton, Square D, Schneider Electric, Siemens and Allen-Bradley. Send the part number with the primary and secondary voltage and the quote comes back with the Micron catalog number beside it. See the Micron control transformer line page or the full Micron collection.

Common questions

What is a 1.0 kVA control transformer used for?

A 1.0 kVA control transformer steps panel line voltage down to a control voltage, most often 115V or 120V, so contactor coils, relays, timers and pilot devices run at a safe level. 1.0 kVA is 1000 VA of continuous capacity.

How do I know if 1.0 kVA is the right size?

Add the sealed VA of every coil and device on the secondary. Then check the inrush VA of the largest contactor pulling in while the rest are already sealed. The transformer has to hold secondary voltage high enough during that inrush for the coil to pick up. Send us the device list and we will size it.

What replaces an Acme, Hammond Power Solutions or Sola 1.0 kVA control transformer?

Micron builds 1.0 kVA catalog numbers that match the common primary and secondary combinations. Send the competitor part number and we will come back with the Micron equivalent and a price.

How fast can I get a price?

Send the part number through the quote form. Quotes go out the same business day, 8 to 5 Eastern, Monday through Friday.
