Common questions
Does a Hammond 1447S enclosure come with the disconnect handle?
Only the 1447S HK series. It ships with a padlocking defeater handle mechanism, latching rods and interlock brackets. On the 1447S, 1447S N4 and 1447S N4 SS the disconnect and operating mechanism are ordered from the disconnect maker.
Will it fit an Allen Bradley 1494V or a Square D 9422 operator?
Yes. Hammond designs the 1447S family for flange mounted operators from ABB, Allen Bradley 1494V and 1494U, C-H Westinghouse C361, GE STDA, Siemens Max-Flex and Square D Class 9422. The HK and N4 sheets say they will not accept Square D 9422 bracket mounted devices (9422TG1 or TG2).
Which one for washdown?
The 1447S N4 SS in 304 stainless is Type 4X. The steel 1447S N4 and 1447S HK are Type 4. The plain 1447S is Type 12 for indoor dust and drip.
Some sizes say discontinued. Can I still get one?
Several plain 1447S Type 12 sizes are discontinued as stocked parts. Most have an HK twin at the same size that is still stocked. Send the number and we will quote what is available.
