Picking the size
Start from the cable outside diameter, not the thread. Each NPT size comes in two or three clamping ranges, and the last digits of the article number give the top of the range in tenths of a mm. So 1000.1NPT.170 tops out at 17 mm. Pick the range that puts your cable near the middle, then match the NPT size to the hole or hub in the box.
