Where the two differ
Clamping range. This is the one to check. In every thread size the AGRO range starts higher than the SKINTOP range. A 7 mm cable in a SKINTOP 53112020 (M20, 7 to 13 mm) sits below the AGRO 1000.20 range of 8 to 15 mm. For that cable use the AGRO M16 1000.17 (6 to 10.5 mm) with an M20 to M16 reducer, or pick the AGRO M20 and confirm the cable is 8 mm or larger. At the top end AGRO goes further: 1000.25 reaches 20.5 mm where 53112030 stops at 17 mm.
Sealing insert. SKINTOP MS-M uses a lamella cage with a CR sealing ring. Progress MS uses a two-piece insert with a removable inlet, TPE and NBR seal, NBR O-ring, so one AGRO part covers two ranges.
Thread length. SKINTOP MS-M runs 7 to 15 mm. AGRO offers a short thread (5 to 10 mm, 1000 series) and a long thread (10 to 14 mm, 1100 series). Pick short for sheet metal walls with a lock nut, long for thick walls and tapped holes.
Wrench size. The same at M20 and M32. AGRO is 2 mm smaller at M16 and 1 to 3 mm larger at M25, M40, M50 and M63, so check clearance between glands on a tight entry plate.
Strain relief. AGRO Progress MS is strain relief version A to EN 62444. SKINTOP MS-M data is on the Lapp sheet; compare the pull-out figures if the cable hangs unsupported.
Shielded cable
For a shielded VFD or servo cable, cross the Lapp SKINTOP MS-SC or MS-M BRUSH to the AGRO Progress EMC easyCONNECT gland in the same thread: 1083.17 (M16), 1083.20 (M20), 1083.25 (M25), 1083.32 (M32), 1083.40 (M40), 1083.50 (M50). Common questions
Is an AGRO Progress MS gland a direct replacement for a Lapp SKINTOP MS-M?
By thread, yes. Both are nickel-plated brass metric glands rated IP 68 at 10 bar and IP 69 from -40 C to +100 C. By cable, check the clamping range first. AGRO ranges sit higher in each thread size, so a cable at the bottom of the SKINTOP range may need the next smaller AGRO thread with a reducer, or a check of the panel hole.
Why does the AGRO gland list two clamping ranges?
The Progress MS two-piece sealing insert has a removable inlet. With the inlet in place the gland clamps the smaller range. Take the inlet out and it clamps the larger range. One article number covers both.
What about the SKINTOP MS-M PLUS and LF versions?
PLUS parts carry the clamping range of the next thread size up. Cross them by cable diameter to the AGRO size whose range fits, then check the thread. LF parts are lead-free versions with the same specs, so they cross the same as the standard part.
