Hoffman AMHUM and ATEMHUM Hygrostat Cross Reference

Hoffman AMHUM crosses to Pfannenberg FLZ 600 (17207000000). Hoffman ATEMHUM crosses to Pfannenberg FLZ 610: 17218151000 for a 115 V AC supply or 17218100000 for 230 V AC. Both Pfannenberg parts snap onto 35 mm DIN rail and have a changeover contact, like the Hoffman parts. The tables below show where the ratings differ.

Watch the N.C. side. FLZ 600 is rated 5 A on the N.O. contact but 2 A on the N.C. contact. AMHUM is 5 A on its changeover contact. Check which FLZ 600 contact your heater or fan sits on, using the Pfannenberg terminal diagram. If the load is over the rating for that contact, switch a relay or contactor coil instead.

Three things to check on an ATEMHUM swap. 1) Pick the FLZ 610 by supply voltage; ATEMHUM is one part for 100 to 240 V. 2) FLZ 610 resistive rating is 8 A vs 10 A on ATEMHUM. A heater over 8 A needs a relay or a smaller heater. Inductive is the other way: 3 A on FLZ 610 vs 1.6 A. 3) FLZ 610 is rated down to -4°F ambient vs -40°F for ATEMHUM. In an unheated outdoor box that sits below -4°F, tell us and we look at it with you.

On ATEMHUM, terminals 3 and 5 close on humidity rise or temperature drop (heaters, dehumidifiers), and 4 and 5 close on humidity drop or temperature rise (fans, cooling). Wire the FLZ 610 to its own terminal diagram on the Pfannenberg sheet; do not assume the same terminal numbers.

Why a hygrostat at all

nVent puts the critical humidity for most components at 65% RH. Above that, water can condense on boards and terminals. A hygrostat turns on a heater when humidity climbs, so the air in the box stays above the dew point. Size the heater on the outdoor control panel page or pick one from enclosure heaters.

Common questions

What replaces a Hoffman AMHUM?

Pfannenberg FLZ 600, part number 17207000000. Both are mechanical hygrostats with a changeover contact on 35 mm DIN rail. FLZ 600 sets 40 to 90% RH. Its N.C. contact is rated 2 A, its N.O. contact 5 A.

What replaces a Hoffman ATEMHUM?

Pfannenberg FLZ 610. Use 17218151000 on 115 V AC or 17218100000 on 230 V AC. Both sense humidity and temperature and switch a changeover relay rated 8 A at 120 or 240 V AC.

Can one FLZ 610 run on 120 V and 240 V like ATEMHUM?

No. FLZ 610 comes in a 115 V and a 230 V version. ATEMHUM takes 100 to 240 V AC. Order the FLZ 610 that matches your control voltage.

Is there a thermostat-only cross too?

Yes. Hoffman ATEMNCF, ATEMNOF and THERM16 and THERM26 thermostats cross to Pfannenberg FLZ 520 and FLZ 530 on the Hoffman thermostat cross page.
