The X position in a Pfannenberg DTS model number is the voltage code. Example: DTS 31X1 is the 4,000 BTU/hr side mount family; the exact orderable part number depends on 115, 230 or 460V. Send the voltage and we return the full part number.
For top mount, the Seifert 4482x001 (1,570 BTU/hr) crosses to the Pfannenberg DTT 6101, and the DTT range runs up to 14,000 BTU/hr. Recessed Seifert applications cross to the Pfannenberg DTI series.
Seifert part number decoder
| Position | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Prefix 87 | Progressive series |
| Prefix 42 / 43 / 47 | SlimLine series |
| x digit (voltage) | 1 = 115V, 0 = 230V, 2 = 460V |
| yy | 01 = powder coated galvanized steel, 2 = 304 stainless cover |
| z digit (ComPact) | 0 = side mount, 8 = recessed |
Compare capacity at 95°F/95°F, not the nameplate
Enclosure air conditioner ratings are not published at a single standard condition, so nameplate BTU/hr numbers across brands are not directly comparable. The honest comparison is capacity at 95°F ambient and 95°F enclosure temperature, read off the manufacturer's performance curve. A unit sold as 3,900 BTU/hr can deliver 3,400 BTU/hr at the 95/95 point. Every table on this page shows both numbers.
Four things have to line up before a substitution is valid:
- Capacity at the rating point. Match 95/95 performance, not marketing BTU.
- Voltage. 115, 230 or 460V must match the nameplate.
- Enclosure rating. NEMA Type 12, 3R, 4 or 4X on the air conditioner must match the enclosure environment.
- Mounting cutout. A capacity cross is not a cutout cross. Pfannenberg adapter plates exist for specific Hoffman retrofits; otherwise plan the panel work.
Also check where the cold air supply sits relative to the hot air return. Several competitor designs place them within 2 to 6 inches of each other, which lets cold discharge short-cycle straight back into the return and cuts effective cooling.
Common questions
What is the Pfannenberg equivalent of the Seifert Progressive 8712?
The Pfannenberg DTS 31X1. The 8712x08yyUSL delivers 4,095 BTU/hr at the 95F/95F point and the DTS 31X1 delivers 4,100 at the same point, an effectively even cross. Both are available in 115, 230 and 460V.
What is the Pfannenberg equivalent of the Seifert SlimLine 4320?
The Pfannenberg DTS 31X5. The 4320x0z1 delivers 7,000 BTU/hr at the 95F/95F point and the DTS 31X5 delivers 6,995 at the same point. Note the NEMA line: the 4320 lists Type 12, while the DTS 31X5 carries Type 12, 3R, 4 and 4X.
What do the digits in a Seifert part number mean?
The 87 prefix is the Progressive series and the 42, 43 and 47 prefixes are SlimLine series units. The x digit is voltage: 1 is 115V, 0 is 230V, 2 is 460V. In the yy position, 01 is powder coated galvanized steel and 2 is a 304 stainless cover. On ComPact models the z digit is the mount: 0 is side mount, 8 is recessed.
Can Pfannenberg replace a recessed Seifert unit?
Yes. Seifert models with the z digit set to 8 are recessed; those applications cross to the Pfannenberg DTI partially recessed series, which covers roughly 3,900 to 13,600 BTU/hr at the 95F/95F point in 230 or 460V. Cutout dimensions are confirmed on the quote.
